Wolfiporia has been prized by traditional medical systems for its digestive benefits, and has an interesting ecological niche as it grows on roots below ground. The sclerotium, or fungal mass, is dried and Wolfora's is always harvested using organic practices.

Wolfora's architecture draws from Dr. Shmalberg's published canine synbiotic research, including a randomized synbiotic trial he co-authored in a leading journal, which showed that dogs can have individualized microbiome responses to synbiotic supplementation.

We paired Wolfora with the okapi because it lives in the kind of biodiverse ecosystem that mirrors what a healthy gut looks like — dense, layered, interdependent. Dr. Justin began his career in East African wildlife, and the okapi is not a panda. It does not draw the attention it deserves, which is part of the reason we chose it.
